The Northcoast School of
Aikido was founded by John Thomas Read upon his return from Japan
in 1977. Read Sensei is widely recognized for his ability to
teach the full variety of Aikido technique, in a concise, clear, and
powerful way. At Northcoast Aikido and in seminars throughout the
country, Read Sensei has taught practical technique and a complete
philosophical basis for power
through non-resistance for over thirty years. Read Sensei has
also developed and
continues to teach Aikibojitsu --
the Art of the Staff. Training at Northcoast Aikido offers rich opportunities for self-development. Teaching responsibilities are shared by Read Sensei and several of his senior students. Visitors are welcome to our dojo. Beginning classes are ongoing. Feel free to stop by the dojo before, after, or during a scheduled class if you are interested in beginning your training in Aikido.
